Prague Segway Tours

Prague Kampa, the meeting point and office place of Prague Segway Tours, is the second most beautiful island in the world: “This area of Prague is so astonishing that it looks almost unreal” states VirtualTourists. (VirtualTourist.com is a worldwide travel community where real travelers and locals share real travel advice and experiences.) Prague Segway Tours is obviously proud and is pleased to get closer to you about Kampa.

You can see many Prague monuments from the banks of Kampa Island – from one side, there is a view of Prague Castle, St.Vitus Cathedral and Charles Bridge, the other side offers views of National Theatre.

Kampa is a false island on the Vltava River in Mala Strana (the Lesser Town), from which it is separated by an artificial mill race named Certovka (Devil’s Stream). It is separated from the Prague quarter of Smichov by Ricni Street. Originally, there was a small low sandy island with gardens, vineyards and a mill. Kampa got its current area and shape in 1541 when rubble from the fire of Mala Strana and Hradcany was taken there.

The most visited attraction on Kampa is the so-called Lennon Wall, where people from all over the world honour John Lennon, the murdered member of the Beatles. Close you will also find the shortest Prague street there – Jiriho Cerveneho Street- which is only 27 metres long.

The romantic atmosphere of Kampa has always attracted many significant Czech personalities: the Czech playwright, novelist and actor Jan Werich had his cute house there, as well as the composer Bohuslav Martinu, artist Jiri Trnka, poet Vladimir Holan or the philologist Josef Dobrovsky. Today, there is an important museum of modern art, the Museum Kampa – the Jan and Meda Mladek Foundation.

All mentioned attractions you can easily visit and see on Segway wheels – especial during one of our Segway tours devoted to this area – called Kampa park ride – the favourite tour of Prague Segway Tours guides!
